With the growing popularity of hookah and tobacco products, Byblos Restaurant and Hookah Bar saw a drastic increase in competition. Byblos needed to redesign their website with a fresh new look to ensure existing customers are kept, and new potential customers are converted.

Byblos needed a way to showcase the wide selection of gourmet cuisines and exotic hookah flavors, while giving customer easy access to menus, directions, and reservation contact information.

Strategic Design Thinking

The initial website for Byblos Restaurant and Hookah Bar had a static design with outdated images, and a layout that did not showcase any of the food, drink or hookah selections.

Identifying the Problem

After interviewing some of the clientele, another key pain point customers reported was difficulty accessing happy hour information and special promotional offers. The website was not optimized for mobile, meaning that the experience on tablet and mobile devices was less than ideal for potential customers on the go.

Creative Execution

When addressing the functional needs for Byblos’ website, one of the major goals was focusing on the user’s needs and ensuring that all desired information would be available to them. After researching current user behaviors on their website, an extensive sketching and prototyping process spawned a completely new layout centered around ease of use and making all information accessible, regardless of the device it was viewed on.

The Final Result

After carefully crafting a solid website architecture and process flow, I was able to combine the updated page layouts with a new visual design to further enhance the usability of the site overall. The new design was also responsive, which created a consistent brand experience across all devices. In addition, the implementation of Google analytics showed an increase in customer engagement by an additional 129 visitors over a 3 day timeframe.
